Mudgee Field days 13th and 14th July

Thursday we, the husband and three of my four children headed off to Mudgee for their Field days comencing 13th and ending 5pm on 14th of July the weather was misty and drizzly. Getting out into the country is so exciting, I just love the drive over the mountains, down Mount Victoria from Sydney and into Lithgow something so relaxing about being a passenger sitting back and watching the country pass by.



Capertee is such a cute town with a beautiful pub and this single chimney just outside town on the Mudgee side.  Our counrty is dotted with the ruins of old houses in most cases the chimney is all that is left standing. I can not help but wonder who lived in the house? what did the house look like?
 


 Look at this sandstone barn how fantastic would that be converted into a house in the field.

My kids were beside themselves when I yelled to Brett "stop" I need a photo of the post boxes all lined up in the middle of no where!

I was invited to the Mudgee field days by my friend Ondre's who let me on his stand from Kleva Sharp I was very grateful so I set up and waited for the fun to begin.  It is always a "hoot" with him and the other Kleve Sharp guy Nic!  Ondre is a little bit cheeky can you tell!



Facebook is a wonderful tool, I posted my weekend movements only to have Renee Matthews from Matthews Saddlery who I met at a show early this year post back that she will be there too! the fun was mounting fast. I just enjoy getting together with stall holders that I have met along the way it is such a family atmosphere at these events when you meet up with a few friends.

We arrived in Mudgee and had dinner in the resort we were staying in when my husband struck up a conversation with Chris from Dean Trailers they discovered they had mutual acquaintances in the trucking industry what a small world.  So Friday I went off to inspect Dean Trailors stand for myself and check our his famous trailers.


A great little aussie company making their trailers from aussie steel since 1948 the trailors can be customized to fit any piece of machiney you need on the move and all from their Bowral factory.

When I found Chris he was with one of his very happy customers so if you need a trailor to cart your machine give Chris a call.





Sunday was spent at the Western Sydney Community Indoor Market where again I caught up with an old friend Cheryl from Gifts for your Mum  who makes the most delicious smelling soap I found it very hard not to bite into the bars, right behind me was Leanne from LaLeiBella Sweets N Treats  I had several of her cup cakes but the favourite was definately the lemon meringue cup cake absolutely to die for.....  Have a wonderful week to all.

Goulburn Markets which is part of the Lilac City Festival

Gametag will be off to Goulburn Markets tomorrow morning so come out to the country for the day and visit the market.

Gametag at Goulburn Markets 7th July 2012, A market we will be definately coming back tooooooo!

6pm - Just arrived home and this has to be one of the most enjoyable markets I have been too, a good old fashion counrty markets complete with farmers, homemade jams and cakes, trash N treasure, handmade and knitted items and lots lots more.

Chris and Audry Bird were there with their knitted and woven woollies.  With 300 Merinos, Merino Cross and Corridale sheep on their farm just west of Gunning in NSW.  Specially bread for their colour and length of staple (I guess that means fleece to the rest of us) perfect for spinning. The fleece range in colour from a rare jet black to browns, greys and a light cream.  They both produce all of their garments Chris weaves his scarves in front of you and Audry spins on her spinning wheel.  You can contact them on amaroofarm@y7mailcom or catch them at Goulburn Markets

My last wonderful farmer is from Marulan who I bought farm fresh pumpkins and potatoes that were dug up yesterday.  I can't tell you what a wonderful thrill it is to buy directly from a farmer knowing every dollar is theirs and the quality is unbelieveably fresh.

 This is just a wonderful friendly market full of locals both as customers and stall holders, it was a long day leaving Bankstown at 6am and driving in the gate home 6pm.  We could have arrived home earlier if we did not stop at the famous Paragon Cafe in the main street for a bite after the market but what do you do! If you can get out to a country market to get your vegies do it, it's a great day out and Goulburn market is a must......

School Holidays

School holidays! most days you love them other days you can not wait for them to get back to school.

The best thing at our house in school holidays is getting out into the park for a bike ride we stop off to kick the soccer ball around and then back on the bikes for a further ride. With lots of climbing equipment in the park to have a great work out on and the riding tracks we are usually out for over an hour.

We are so lucky to live within a two minute walk to Lake Gillawarna a bushland park on Henry Lawson Drive at Georges Hall many people use the park to walk and picnic in.

Maitland Market July 2012

Up at 4am in the CCCCCold and dark for the trip to Maitland, 172km  from our home in Bankstown.  The drive this time in the morning is wonderful so dark and cold but peaceful, most of the roads we travelled on, especially getting out of Sydney are main roads and usually heavy with traffic at any other time of the day.

It is wonderful to see the sun rising over our bushlands highlighting the rock cliffs dotted through the bush and river valleys. We arrived at Maitland  around 7am to find the market very busy with stall holders setting up.  It only takes me a few minutes to be set up and ready so we headed off around the market for a look.  I had not been to Maitland markets for two months and as I walked around with my husband and two sons the feelings of a lovely old fashioned country market flooded back.  Maitland market is one of my favourite markets and well worth the early morning start.

I have met so many people at markets and we are always bumping into one another from time to time, the first friend to meet was Ben from Nannette Imports walking slowly towards us then Ondre from Kleva Sharpe and it was not long after that I posted on Gametag facebook page when  Stella Rose from Respiro posts back she is also there.  Just like a family reunion.
