Ropes Crossing

Ropes Crossing is a lovely market run the last Sunday of each month by Rotary the cost for a stall is $35 and held at the local community centre "The Hub".  The maket spills out onto the front path and garden area.  With about 30 stalls selling all kinds of things from clothing, jewellery, cupcakes, jams, plants, soaps and candles. The market has only been running for five months and truely the organisers have done a wonderful job getting it up and running.

Just on the other side of the interestion another event was being held with entertainment promoting the local football team this brought a large crowd of local families from the area out who then wondered through both areas most of the families said they did not realise the market was here so I expect the market will grow with the community.  There is a wonderful family enviroment with local mothers having a cupcake stall the cakes were baked by them to raise money for airconditioning to be fitted to classrooms.

Rotary markets at Ropes Crossing held at The Hub
Once again while out and about I have met the most wonderful people and I was referred to this market by Cheryl from Gifts for your Mum who make the most delicious smelling soap so thank you Cheryl.

This is a market I would definately visit again as a stall holder and a market customer.  Well done to the organisers.

Colo Vale Markets Kathleen Willard

Well it was freezing when we arrived at Colo Vale this morning about 8am, running late because we were watching the London Olympics Opening Ceremony, we kept saying just five more minutes , just five more minutes.  When we arrived we met with the market organiser Mrs Willard who is in her 70’s and very witty she ushered us to our spot and we were set up in a moment.

there is my stand with my vegies carrots and brocholi straight from the farmers and a cake from the lady that made it.
Kathleen who runs the Colo Vale market is a scream and came by to check all was well making jokes about herself, stall holders and of course customers all day. She declared the market open anouncing we were there, so funny. The market is directly opposite the Colo Vale train station which has not operated for some years.  A very very cute building made of cedar and restored by the Colo Vale Community Assoc. The market is held in the comunity hall and grounds which was built in the 50s using mostly second hand building materials. Any materials needed were paid for with the auctions of things like locally grown pumpkins very big pumpkins as told to me by Mrs ....... She doesn't want to be name!  LOL how funny.

Colo Vale Train Station
Once again I have bought my vegies from the farmer, first stop was broccoli, carrots and turnips from Organics You Can Trust.  We also had his home made popcorn with honey and went back to get a second bag but it was gone! that's how good it was.

and Dunollie Fresh farm bok choy, onions and lettuce.

Joe from Seacombe Fine Wood Products was there with his hand made wooden products.

Michelle "the Mad Goat lady". www.togagoatfarm.com handmade goats milk body products colour & perfume free, all from the goats on her property. She knits little baby suits and toy animals her products are fantastic as one her customers told me.

The local realestate Ian Cameron from Cameron Real Estate who prints out the "Colo Vale News" full of all the happenings in Colo Vale popped in for a visit and a chat about the area, how safe it is, some of the properties in the area can fetch over a million dollars.  This little village is a beautiful place and the market was lovely Kathleen is a wonder manger who made us feel she was more like a host, providing coffee and tea for the stall holders from the kitchen in the hall there were tables and chairs for patrons to stop a moment and relax.

On a serious note Kathleen had a grandson Cameron who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 9 she wrote, illistrated and published a book called Cameron's Garden what a truely lovely lady she is.

This market is not a market I would make a special trip for but I would definately put it on my list if you were heading to the southern highlands on an outing.  The market is held on the fourth Saturday of each month in Railway Parade the stall was $20 but I would pay that, to just sit and watch Kathleen buzz around.

Cut out, pop up cards and Rustic Treasures at the Old Bus Depot

Sunday 22nd July 2012 up again today at 5.30am and on the road by 6am to be in Canberra by 9.30am for a market at the famous Old Bus Depot.  We left home in the dark and watched the sun rise along the way such a beautiful day in the county with a little rain here and there.

We stopped off at the Canberra sign for a quick photo.

then straight to the Old Bus Depot to set up.

As usual after setting up I introduced myself to my neighbour Penny from Rustic Treasures   Penny makes all her own jewellery in a studio at her home. She specialises in mixed-metals and often combines silver, copper and brass in a single design. She also makes individual pieces from each of these base metals. Her signature pieces are dome beads manufactured from Sterling silver, brass and copper. Her jewellery if beautifully made and you can read her blog http://rustictreasuresjewellery.blogspot.com/

I came across Liz who makes her own cards, the cards are pop up with various motifs and fold away as the card is closed, the motifs are intricately cut out by her with the finest of details Liz has a facebook page coming so look out for her page Paper Treats.  A card handmade from Liz would definately add a special touch to any gift.

Liz with her hand cut, pop up cards.

My parents came down for the day, they wandered around the markets with my children and husband we all departed Canberra two of my children went in my parents car and two came with my husband and I, my daughters Paris and Victoria were both using their DS's  in separate cars when we noticed the light in the rear window of my father's car, Paris was trying to connect to Victoria's DS via DS download. They were able to connect however it dropped out on many occasions after only a few seconds of connection, so no games are being played but a "hell of a lot of fun" trying. What a beautiful day today has been.

Purple Carrots, Beaded Handbags and Karise Eden

Well today, Gametag was at The Entrance Farmers Market, I often say a particular market is my favourite and this market was definately up there.  The market is held on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month and is well worth a days outing from Sydney, the venue is Memorial Park on the foreshore.  According to The Entrance Town Centre Management website "Memorial Park is the focal point of all activity in The Entrance and has been ever since the land on the foreshore, where Memorial Park is now located, was donated to the town by the original owner Richard Brown Taylor."

Mum and I drove up this morning leaving Bankstown at 5.30 am we set up and then it was off to inspect the market. So many of the stalls were straight from the farmer or the producer there is something so refreshing and communal about buying your vegetables straight from the farmer my apples where from Rob 0408 635 431 from Towac Valley Orchard huge and beautiful smelling apples. My eggs from Idlewilde Farm beans and strawberrys from the region and freshly baked cheese and chives sourdough Yum and Yum .....  there were other producers there plants, cheeses, olives, olive oils, honey, a potato farmer and lots more.

Oh! did I mention purple carrots, I can not believe how excited for dinner tonight I am. What do purple carrots taste like?..... The farmer told me that if I peel them my hands will end up purple just like a beetroot stain. So we shall see tonight even the kids are excited about eating purple carrots.

Vegetables straight from the farmer at The Entrance Market check out the purple carrots.

On my rounds came accross Phil from Lin & Phil's Handmade Jewellery & beads Lin has been sick for sometime and started beading as a form of therapy she makes necklaces and earings but for me her little beaded handbags just the perfect size for your ID some money and the keys were absolutely beautiful.  When I first looked at the bags I thought they were a kind of mesh the beading was just so fine.  Lin has won awards at the Newcastle show for her work each piece is definately a work of art.  The faces on her work are so detailed just as if they are painted rather than beaded. I have shown my husband some of the pieces and told him if he loves me, that I would love this under the christmas tree.......

Gorgeous beaded handbag by Lin
Phil with some of Lin's work the white little bag with the face is stunning.
Phil makes his own beads and they too are beautiful.

Phil, Lin and Ben with Karise Eden
Quoted from their facebook page "she liked the blue necklace Mum/Lin has on soo much they gave it to her"

So if you need a present for a person who has everything or who only appreciates the finer things in life then check out Lin's work.

Have you read some of the Gametag reviews. Lost any DS games you need Gametag.

Here is some of our fantastic feedback to read.  All because of a "mad" moment in my life.

@GametagAust love your gametag and how it keeps all these together !! pic.twitter.com/7BWgHVeq Megan M @nagem67   5/1/13 via twitter

After spending so much money replacing DS Games due to either loss or damage, it was nice to find this GameTag system.   It was simple to install and the TAGS themselves are made of a solid Plastic material with a high quality adhesive glue.   Now I am able to relax knowing that my 3 year old will not be running around the house crying that he lost one of his DS games, so good by zip-lock bag and hello to Gametag !!!   Would highly recommend this item to any frustrated parents who are at their wit ends over losing DS games.   Any serious Gamer or parent of one needs to buy Gametag and relax knowing that your DS Games are safe and secure.    Charlie Roseville, California - USA 2/1/13

Don't even think about just get it and thank me later - Excellent
This is the best thing I have bought for years, only $20! I can not believe it was not invented years ago. We have not looked for any games since using the Gametag. The kids just don't fight over who's game belongs to who because they are attached all the time. Postives: they are attached to each childs DS all the time and I mean all the time. Today while out with Gametag today at the Fishers Ghost Festival I was explaining to a lady how Gametag works when she said, "I know all about it, I was in EB games last week picking out a game for my son when the lady next to me said you have to get a Gametag this woman gave Gametag such a wrap up, it was totally random I didn't even know her" unknown customer 11/11/12

What a fantastic and simple idea!- Excellent
Great product! I'm forever searching for lost games and it drives me crazy! They are not cheap, so to lose one is very frustrating. Can't remember how I came across Gametag, but I'm glad I did! As soon as I saw the video, I knew we needed one so I purchased it straight away. It couldn't have been easier - I paid online and received my Gametag the next day. Excellent service, fantastic value and no more lost games! My 6 yr old son thinks it's fantastic, he's impressed with it.

How good is Gametag! I'm forever searching for lost games, but NO MORE! Fantastic & simple creation, one of those things you see and think 'Now why didn't I think of that!" A great invention by a smart mummy! via Kidspot 19/9/12 Melinda Dunlop

Seriously you need to use Gametag before you lose the games then you won't lose them it is so easy. via unknown author on answers.com (question: How do you find lost ds games?)

Sometime ago I was lucky enough to win a GAMETAG, I gave it to a young friend of mine & this is his review: I love the GAMETAG, I get to spend more time playing my games, cause I don't have to look for hours to find my games. My Mum likes it too, cause she doesn't have to look forthem either! Jed S 9yrs.
So you have made one family very happy THANKS GAMETAG! via facebook Michelle 5/8/12

Top product that is so incredibly easy to use. Its amazing how something so simple is never thought of until necessity kicks in! Its always been the cause of chaos in our house with the girls. I was starting to think they were just too young for the responsibility of the DS (they are 7 & 8) but the Gametag has been a godsend. No more expensive games left lying around for big feet to tread on, no more crying because Dora game is gone and its the ultimate favourite game! The reduction in stress, anger and financial burden from replacing lost games is well worth the $20! I'm going to buy the nephews and nieces one for christmas :D via mwwah Jodi 14/7/12

What a fantastic yet simple solution to a common problem! I can't believe that I hadn't heard of them before. They should be standard with the DS!! Thanks Janene for a great product. Even better that a Mum has created this useful device! We brag to all our friends but usually it attracts interest all on its own! via mwwah Chloe 14/7/12

So I have 3 kiddies and Lovely Jess sent them one each and I am super greatful. We've had no lost games, no tantrums because someone misplaced his and he can't play with his brother, no more fighting over found games (its mine, no its mine), and best thing is no more begging for a replaced lost game! Genius invention, easy to attach, tabs are quite sticky (unless you peel them off and try to re-stick), conveniently keeps everything together which is great for those unexpected trips when you think the kids may need some travel entertainment. via mwwah Peta 14/7/12

Both my older 2 have DS i XL's and they were forever loosing games. They are so expensive too at times and kids are kids and often things get misplaced. LOVED this product. So do the kids, they now know where their games are and everything is all attached. Recommend for anyone who is about to purchase or already has and wants to avoid the chaos when the kids loose their fav game. via mwwah Jess 14/7/12

What do you mean ' kids'? do i count as a big kid? cause i can't find my copy of Harry Potter and the half blood prince, it's annoying as anything, because i'm half way through and want to finish it. i've pulled every box out, searched every nook and cranny, and it's still hidden somewhere. this would make life so much easier for me :) via mwwah Olivia 14/7/12

This next feedback is one of my most favourite!
My son won a gametag from last year's Sydney Easter Show. After having a day of people shoving products in our faces we didn't buy one or really give you the time but filled out the entry form. I'm sorry... IT IS AWESOME!! His games are right there - and it saves me time because I'm not looking for any of games he can't find. He has now filled up the first and I just need a refill. Wow!!! Gametags make traveling so much easier. We do not have to make sure we have all the games because they are all just there with the game and it takes up so much less space than the tin we kept them in before. Changing games on the move is a breeze. Thank you GT.

Excellent idea. Finally a sensible way of keeping all the games neat and tidy, as well as on hand at any given time. The best investment I made for my kids DS's. Now they can swap each others games and still not loose them.
It's a simple idea that is very practical. For the cost of 1/4 of new game I bought a gametag and now I don't waste money on re-buying the games which I find 6 months later under the seat.

I seen your ad in the Jetstar magazine back in August on our way home from a trip. We wished we knew about them before our trip would have saved a lot of time looking for games only to find them in the bottom of the bed or on the floor. A month or so after I found 3 tags in Ebgames and purchased them for my 3 boys I LOVE them. These two are for my brothers kids I know they will love them as much as I do I guess it a bit of a double gift, one the parent will love too. Lisa 12/11

We had a customer say the following:-
A woman told me two weeks ago they had lost all the DS games they had around the house so they didn't need a Gametag.
I told her to put a Gametag on the DS and just add the games as they find them. They found 13 of their games and promptly attached them to the Gametag.
The kids have been playing the DS now because it's convenient with all the games attached!! No lose games means no lost games! December 2011 via Penrith Markets

Can you detach the games if you want? Like if you want to sell the game? jibberldd5

yes you can remove them just bend the tag back and strongly pull off, they come of clean (you may get a small ball of glue which you just pick off) so the game is undamaged and able to be sold … thanks Janene
Anyways? Who plays a ds with game cards all over their lap or the floor? jibberldd5

kids do! And some adults (adults tend to drop them traveling down between & under seats on planes & trains, it’s very hard to get your legs between the seats without getting your whole body down & between/under the seats to get a dropped game!) the problem is they drop out of containers and flip out of bags without the owner realising. We lost 4 games, I was constantly checking them but we still managed to lose 4 games! This does not happen with Gametag…...Janene

Oh, and also, can the tags be reused? Like, if you detach the game, can you attach the tag to different game? If not, that’s ok, I’m just asking. jibberldd5

No the glue is then contaminated I have heard people do that but that is not my recommendation. The games are too expensive to risk. One tag, one game, one use…....thanks Janene

Ok, thanks! So you can get the tags eparately? jibberldd5

Yes you can, so you can hang as many games as you feel comfortable. If you have 100’s of games some of our customers rotate their games. They put tags on all of their games select an amount to hang on their Gametag then in a week or month put them back in their cases upside down (so you don’t take the tag off, because they fit in the case upside down) and put another selection of your games on the Gametag. If you go to our facebook page you can read out feedback it is 10 out of 10 Via our youtube 12/11

Really, because it probably won't work. You can't even buy it out of Australia. But if a game gets broken, its gone forever. You can buy another DS if it's lost. But I would rather keep it in a case, with my DS and accessories. iamthefirstbeans in reply to ringrosehouse07 (Show the comment) 11/11

(I LOVE THIS BECAUSE LOOK BELOW AT WHAT ONE OF MY CUSTOMERS WROTE IN RESPONSE, HOW FANTASTIC….JANENE)

you are clearly a troll, anyone who cant see how this would benefit small children is obviously stupid. It sticks to the back of the game and removes, after removal any stickiness can be wiped off. Also this product is made so you don't lose games not for protection so that point is irrelevant. I don't get why people are always asking for things that has nothing to do with what a product is about. ringrosehouse07 in reply to iamthefirstbeans 11/11

............................................................................................................

r they removable when u want to trade them? sewsweet08

Yes they can be removed without damage to the games so trading will be just as normal........Janene

Thank you. no the little cases that you can get do not fit unless you modify them (cut a slit for the tag to go through) when the kids/you are finished playing, you place the whole thing in your DS carry bag so the games are either in the air or in the bag either way they are not on the floor or in places where they are likely to be damaged or lost. thanks for your inquiry .....Janene

Thank you, thank you, thank you GAMETAG!!
All the kids in our family have one and it is the BEST invention EVER!! No more lost games and no more arguements about who owns what game!! Especially good for day trips in the car, while waiting for brothers or sisters at sports and when friends kids are over, they can all be playing and when it's time to go home they just pick up their DS!! ABSOLUTE GODSEND!!
We hired a house at Sussex Inlet last weekend and Matty and Jake (my nephews) took their DS'. It was such a relief to know they had a GAMETAG as if any of their games got lost we most certainly would not see them again!!

I gave a Gametag as a birthday gift for a 12 year old, just a couple of months ago. Funny how the relief of no more lost DS games was the topic of conversation with us mums and how these little things can make a difference. Well that one gift has evolved into 4 more Gametag purchases after cousins of the 12 year old saw it in action.....It's like a very cheap once off insurance premium for very valuable merchandise....so simple and affordable that everyone thinks "got to get one"... Only a mum with kids who own DS's could have invented something so brilliant. Am saving a fortune by not having to replace lost games only to later find them again. My son absolutely loves it. All his games are conveniently there whenever he wants to swap over to another game without having to search the house for them. What a genius you are Janene. Love, love, love it :):):) Mary-Anne Boutros Nakhoul 14/10/11 via facebook

“I saw it on the shelf at big w in Rockhampton, for years I have been after something to hold all the games together and Nintendo just don't make anything big enough to hold a couple of dozen games as they seem to accumulate over time... I have wasted so much money over the years buying different cases with never any success in keeping them all in one place kids just don't understand the value in those bloody games but your genius has solved many arguments in our household, thankyou once again and once again I wish you all the success in the world."
Janne - July 2011 Queensland, Australia

Best thing out for keeping all those annoying store cards together in one place in the handbag, thanks.
Astrid - June 2011 Sydney, Australia

The GameTag is an absolute godsend! Not only does it keep all the games in one place, my daughter is less inclined to lend her games to friends because she likes them all there at her fingertips. I also like the fact that you can add more tags to the ring if you want more than the initial amount on it.
Kathleen - April 2011 Australia

My kids were forever losing their games, when you think of the cost of some of those games it's like losing a day's pay. A great idea and so grateful that someone actually spent time, effort and money to manufacture something that has been so useful. Hi Janene, I have to say, "What a brilliant idea." Well done for comming up with something so simple yet works a charm. Mudgee Field days 13th and 14th July

Thursday we, the husband and three of my four children headed off to Mudgee for their Field days comencing 13th and ending 5pm on 14th of July the weather was misty and drizzly. Getting out into the country is so exciting, I just love the drive over the mountains, down Mount Victoria from Sydney and into Lithgow something so relaxing about being a passenger sitting back and watching the country pass by.

Capertee is such a cute town with a beautiful pub and this single chimney just outside town on the Mudgee side.  Our counrty is dotted with the ruins of old houses in most cases the chimney is all that is left standing. I can not help but wonder who lived in the house? what did the house look like?

Look at this sandstone barn how fantastic would that be converted into a house in the field.

My kids were beside themselves when I yelled to Brett "stop" I need a photo of the post boxes all lined up in the middle of no where!

I was invited to the Mudgee field days by my friend Ondre's who let me on his stand from Kleva Sharp I was very grateful so I set up and waited for the fun to begin.  It is always a "hoot" with him and the other Kleve Sharp guy Nic!  Ondre is a little bit cheeky can you tell!

Facebook is a wonderful tool, I posted my weekend movements only to have Renee Matthews from Matthews Saddlery who I met at a show early this year post back that she will be there too! the fun was mounting fast. I just enjoy getting together with stall holders that I have met along the way it is such a family atmosphere at these events when you meet up with a few friends.

Renee and her prize winning saddle

We arrived in Mudgee and had dinner in the resort we were staying in when my husband struck up a conversation with Chris from Dean Trailers they discovered they had mutual acquaintances in the trucking industry what a small world.  So Friday I went off to inspect Dean Trailors stand for myself and check our his famous trailers.

A great little aussie company making their trailers from aussie steel since 1948 the trailors can be customized to fit any piece of machiney you need on the move and all from their Bowral factory.

When I found Chris he was with one of his very happy customers so if you need a trailor to cart your machine give Chris a call.

Sunday was spent at the Western Sydney Community Indoor Market where again I caught up with an old friend Cheryl from Gifts for your Mum  who makes the most delicious smelling soap I found it very hard not to bite into the bars, right behind me was Leanne from LaLeiBella Sweets N Treats  I had several of her cup cakes but the favourite was definately the lemon meringue cup cake absolutely to die for.....  Have a wonderful week to all.
